Tip of the week - RacketdragOn
Tennis' new invention allows players to receive resistance training combined with ball contact on the strings for better feel and stroke development. Old school methodology meets modern technology in one training device that every tennis player should have in their bag.
On ground strokes you take on the rise and play above the net line (height of the net) the swing path has to be more level than a regular low to high motion because you don't need to lift the ball like you would on lower balls. The level swing will give you the power to hit through the court with your shot and as long as your strings are square at contact it will prevent the high ball from flying out on you. A good rule of thumb to follow is a simple follow through tip while executing a perfect on the rise drive. Have your thumb from the racquet hand hit just below your shoulder on the finish after you have met the ball. This touch will instill a consistency to this high risk high reward power shot since you will get this shot often from your opponent while they buy recovery time throughout your match. Taking the ball early and properly will take that recovery time away. Just remember that this tip applies ONLY to balls you play on the rise above the net level. Try it! See you at the courts....
